Concerned residents of Livingston County were recently told that investment in Early Childhood education is crucial to a strong, healthy adult, a competitive workforce and prosperous United States and an innovative world. At the Bill Millett presentatation, which included Early Childhood educators and supporters and also members of the Brighton and Howell area business communities, we were told how much the United States is lagging behind other countries in recognizing and supporting those most important early years of brain development. Stewards of Children

Maple Tree Montessori Academy will be hosting the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Livingston County’s very important workshop “Stewards of Children” This crucial event is open to all parents, grandparents and caregivers of children. The workshop addresses the sensitive issues of child abuse and the fact that it is not likely to be committed by a stranger. Teaching our children to watch out for strangers is not nearly enough. Enrollment Update

Wow…After an amazing year, starting with two new teachers (new to MTMA, but not to Montessori or to education) I am delighted to announce that our Fall enrollment for our Elementary program has nearly doubled over last year. Ms. Hema and Mr. Kyle have dramatically improved the quality of our Elementary Montessori school and of course, our environment as a whole. Hot Topics with Dr. Mo

This event is free of charge and open to the public. Dr. Mo is the Medical Director of Dr. MoPediatric Center in Brighton, MI. Capable Kids Parenting Class

Maple Tree Montessori Academy is pleased to offer an outstanding parenting class “Capable Kids” presented by the Women’s Resource Center of Livingston County. This class will be presented in 3 parts…4/19 – Brain Development, 4/26 – Attachment, and 5/3 – Self Regulation. All will be held at MTMA from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Maple Tree Montessori 2011 / 2012 School Enrollment Open House

Maple Tree Montessori will be holding an Open House on the first Saturday of each month; February – May from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. This is a great time for prospective families to visit our school. We will be opening our enrollment to current families first, but new families may get on our waiting list at any time. After our current families have a chance to re-enroll, we will take children from the waiting list and then open enrollment to the public until all of our spaces are filled. Project Read

This summer, Maple Tree Montessori Academy is happy to host Julie Harrison teaching “Project Read”. Julie will be offering a 1 and 1/2 hour class, Monday through Friday for Preschool – Elementary students. The classes are held in 2 week sessions begining on Monday, June 21st. Project Read is designed to use a multi – sensory approach to strengthen reading skills at all levels. Students do not need to be enrolled in our Summer Camp to take the Project Read Sessions. Maple Tree Montessori Hosting Parenting Classes

Maple Tree Montessori Academy will be hosting a series of parenting classes facilitated by the Women’s Resource Center. These classes, Capable Kids, will be held on 3 Tuesday’s in April. April 213th, 20th and 27th from 7:00 until 8:30. These classes will explore the work of Bruce Perry and Stanley Greenspan as well as other child development professionals. The fee is $25.00 per person for the series and there will be no childcare provided. Please call the Women’s Resource Center at 517-548-2200 to register.

Open House Saturday April 3rd

Maple Tree Montessori Academy will be hosting an Open House for prospective parents on Saturday April 3rd from 11:00 – 1:00. We welcome all parents and children to come visit our classrooms, meet our teachers and ask questions about our programs. We are currently enrolling students for Pre school thru 6th grade.
